Who can fix Congress? We can!!
Who can fix Congress? We can!!
Please promote without making any additions or changes to it?
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year olds ) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified!
Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971…before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land…all because of public pressure.
I’m asking each of you to tell a minimum of twenty people; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.
Congressional Reform Act of 2011
1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the
Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.
THIS IS HOW WE CAN START TO FIX CONGRESS!!!!!
Another Tragedy @ Notre Dame ~ Student Suicide Cover-up
~ Another Tragedy @ Notre Dame ~ student suicide~ University Cover-up ~
“A 19-year-old college freshman at St. Mary’s College was found barely breathing in her dorm room in an apparent suicide.”
That is what the headline read, but it’s the story lines behind that headline is considered more disturbing.
The victim;
The student found on September 10, 2010 was Elizabeth “Lizzy” Seeberg. She was a special person who gave more to others in her 19 years than most of us give is a lifetime. She volunteered to build houses with Habitat for Humanity and hoped to become a nurse after graduation. She was active in the Catholic Church and was integral in raising money for the Jesuit high school that sponsors students on Chicago’s west side. According to Father Chris Devron, president of Christ the King high school in Chicago, she organized several fundraising and service projects to benefit the school, working with her parish youth group to “adopt” Christ the King. He stated “Lizzy had a real sense that God had blessed her, and she wanted to give back to those who were not fortunate to have equal access to a solid education. For her youthful age, she had a mature awareness about injustice, and wanted to make the world a better place.” Ms Seeberg visited Christ the King several times, and made and sold picture frames to raise money. “Our students were blessed to benefit from her quiet but strong efforts on their behalf, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know such a special young woman.”
The Facts of suicide
Elizabeth “Lizzy” Seeberg died of an apparent suicide just nine days after reporting she was a victim of a sexual assault to the University of Notre Dame police by one of their football players. She is a freshman at neighboring St. Mary’s College who had battled depression and apparently overdosed on prescription medication. Seeberg told her dorm mates about the incident upon returning to St. Mary’s campus and hand-wrote a statement that evening. She then received assistance from “Belles against Violence”, a St. Mary’s program that helps victims of sex crimes. The Details of the Case on University of Notre Dame Security Police log
Case # 2010-1705
Sexual Assault Reported
NDSP is investigating a sexual assault reported to NDSP on September 1, 2010. The reported sexual assault was committed by an acquaintance in a campus residence hall on August 31, 2010.
Case 2010-1705 – http://ndsp.nd.edu/crime-information-and-clery-act/
The Disturbing Information
The player has remained on the field during their investigation and his name is being withheld from the public. More than two months has passed without Notre Dame making any public statements on the case, or what actions university officials has taken to investigate these allegations.
We’ve learned that campus authorities did not report the sexual assault allegations to the St. Joseph County Police Department investigating Seeberg’s death. The county’s special victims unit, which was established to handle sex offenses, was never informed of Ms Seeberg sexual assault.
Is this a Notre Dame cover-up? Are they trying to avoid another tragic incident in the last 2 months? The first being when the video tower collapsed killing Declan Sullivan, a 21 year old student. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5734494
Ms Lizzy Seeberg did exactly what you are supposed to do when you are a victim of sexual assault. She reported it, went to the hospital, gave written statements and pointed out the player she was accusing. Reporting these allegations doesn’t mean she was telling the truth, but when a serious offense is made, a full investigation should take place. If the player is suspected by authorities, he should be taken off the team immediately and arrested awaiting trial.
From The Chicago Tribune articleOn the evening of Aug. 31, Seeberg told her friends at St. Mary’s College, the all-women’s school across the road from Notre Dame, that she had been assaulted but not raped in an attack that was interrupted by a knock on a dorm-room door. That same night, she sat down and hand-wrote an account of all that had happened, and the next day made a full report to the Notre Dame cops. She also sought treatment at a hospital, where she submitted to DNA testing and accepted an offer of counseling.

All crimes committed on the campus are handled by St. Joseph’s County and not by the South Bend Police Department, which makes for a less of a methodical investigation. County Officials, when informed of the sexual attack allegations, disregarded the information as unimportant. Their reply to the Tribune: “the lead investigator disregarded this information because he just didn’t feel it was important.”

The Seeberg’s family deserves more
The Seeberg’s family, and has hired attorney Zachary Fardon, a former Federal Prosecutor to get answers regarding their daughter’s death as school officials claim it would be a violation of federal law for them to answer any questions about their handling of either her allegations or her apparent suicide. On Friday Fardon said, “At this time, we’re not prepared to make any comment about Notre Dame’s investigation.”
Notre Dame’s football coach, Brian Kelly, seemed undaunted when asked about the allegations of one of his players during a conference call with sportswriters. You wouldn’t think this kind of response would be given after the October death of team videographer Declan Sullivan.
- Kelly is a well paid coach – a classless act
- The player is adored by many doting fans.
- Lizzy was just a young lady enjoying her time in college.
School Officials at Notre Dame stay silent
Core Values at Notre DameThe University of Notre Dame is committed to creating and
maintaining a principled workplace. As such, the President encourages all faculty and staff to remain committed to the core values of integrity, accountability, teamwork, leadership in mission, and leadership in excellence.
How are these values demonstrated?
Integrity – Demonstrates honest and ethical behavior that displays a high moral standard. Widely trusted, respectful, and honorable.
Accountability – Takes responsibility and ownership for decisions, actions, and results. Accountable for both how and what is accomplished.
Teamwork – Works cooperatively as a member of a team and is committed to the overall team objectives rather than own interests.
Leadership in Mission – Understands, accepts, and supports the Catholic mission of the University and fosters values consistent with that mission.
Leadership in Excellence – Demonstrates energy and commitment to improving results, takes initiatives often involving calculated risks while considering the common good.
My Thoughts
Notre Dame is a catholic school with a storied history. They pride themselves on their core values: Integrity, Accountability, Teamwork, Leadership in Mission and excellence. In the last 2 months they have not demonstrated any of their core values. Their lack of morals and acting like a classless uncaring institution has tarnished any glorified past they boast.
- They(ND) are protecting a coach Brian Kelly who lacks any compassion for Lizzy or her grieving parents with his comments.
- They (ND) have decided to protect a football player, who may or may not have assaulted this young student.
- They (ND) had brought attention to themselves by not making a public statement or turning the matter over to the proper authorities (SBPD) to investigate Lizzy’s claims of sexual assault and suicide.
- Their hands are dirty in a massive cover-up of a second death surrounding their football team.
I am not saying this football player is guilty. I am saying the investigation was flawed, bios and against all the values I believe in. Information was withheld to protect the fighting Irish integrity whether proven true or false. Let’s not forget Elizabeth “Lizzy” Seeberg. Her values and acts of kindness are more valuable than any glorified team at the University of Notre Dame.
I hope after reading this we are all inspired to keep the pressure on the University of Notre Dame to demonstrate their core values and take responsibility for the events that has taken place this past year and tarnished their storied history.
Is this a new tactic for a Sexual Assault? Or is this a just a case of stupidity….
Is this a new tactic for a Sexual Assault?
Or is this a just a case of stupidity….
“Kristina Ross, 37, remains in jail on two counts of practicing medicine without a license and remains there on $100,000 bail. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Posing as Dr. Berlyn Aussieahshowna, Kristina Ross was able to give two women breast exams in a bar. One woman said she disrobed for Ross and another said she was groped over her clothes. The two women believed Ross was a real doctor because she had an impressive medical vocabulary like liposuction and breast augmentation.” Kristina Ross, a transgender, has a previous criminal record for aggravated battery where she was kept in a male prison between 2004 and 2008, away from the mass population, listed as MTF (male to female).
Prosecutors argued in court the “most concerning facts, here are that (Ross) is not a doctor and that (Ross) is a male touching women’s breasts under the guise of being a female doctor.”
To me the most concerning fact in this case….
Why in the world would any women let a stranger (man, woman, or otherwise) give them a breast exam in a bar or anywhere other than a doctor’s office?
With sexual assault on the rise all across America, women should be more aware of their environment and how to protect themselves from a sexual predator. I want to know more about the condition of these women involved. Were they intoxicated or had any mental or physical disabilities from thinking logical? Did Kristina Ross force these women into having a breast exam?
Of course Kristina Ross should be punished for her actions, but my feeling is 10 years in jail will not stop this predator, unless she is incarcerated in a mental institution getting her the help she needs.
I would love to hear your thoughts…
Is There A Link Between Stalking And Sexual Assault?
The rise in sexual assaults around the country is on the rise and the Dallas PD has started a sexual assault awareness campaign to help educate a potential victim so they do not become a statistic and posted the following: Walking home after drinking can be as dangerous as driving drunk.
- Walk with friends or take a cab
- Carry your cell phone or pepper spray in your hand as you walk
- Always be aware of your surroundings
No one deserves to be a victim – Do your part in preventing a crime
Always be aware of your surroundings
It’s the third bullet I want to expand on, being aware of your surroundings. I grew up in a town about 50 miles from New York City in a suburb on Long Island. I can remember reading the NY Daily News police pages and noticed many crimes committed, started with the victim being stalked. So I wanted to see if there is a link between stalking and sexual assaults. Let’s begin with a brief description of stalking.
What is Stalking?
A stalker tries to control his or her victim through behavior or threats intended to intimidate and terrify. A stalker can be an unknown person, an acquaintance or a former intimate partner. A stalker’s state of mind can range from obsessive love to obsessive hatred. A stalker may follow a victim off and on for a period of days, weeks, or even years. A stalking victim feels reasonable fear of bodily injury or death to self or to a family or household member or damage to property. Stalking can be perpetrated by the stalker or by someone acting on her/his behalf. Stalking can take the form of verbal threats or threats conveyed by the stalker’s conduct, threatening mail, property damage, surveillance of the victim, or by following the victim.
The stalker may, on more than one occasion:
- Follow the victim and/or victim’s family or household members,
- Vandalize the victim’s property inflict damage to property by vandalizing the car,
- Harming a pet or breaking windows at the victim’s home make threatening calls or send threatening mail
- Drive by or park near the victim’s home, office, and other places familiar to the victim.
Important Safety Measures
Be Alert and aware of your surroundings, the people and things happening around you
Vary Routes of travel when you come and go from work or home.
Park Securely and in well-lit areas. Ask someone to escort you to your car.
Be Aware of vehicles following you. If you are followed drive to a police station, fire department, or busy shopping center and sound the horn to attract attention.
Alert Managers or security at your place of business
Have a security check made by law enforcement of your home to ensure your home can be locked safely. Secure all doors and windows in both your home and vehicle.
Maintain an unlisted phone # and Caller ID for your phone.
Do not dismiss any threats, written or verbal. Call the police or sheriff’s department and save any documentation.
Maintain Privacy never give out personal information to anyone where the information can be overheard and set Facebook, MySpace and other networking web site to private. Remove all phone numbers, addresses etc. from as many items as possible.
Develop a Safety Plan for yourself and family members in case of emergency. Decide on a safe place to meet and someone to call if problems do arise.
Stalking and Sexual Assault
- 2% of stalking victims were raped/sexually assaulted by their stalker
- 31% of women stalked by her intimate partner were also sexually assaulted by that partner
- Victim is unlikely to know she is being stalked by this person until stalker chooses to let her know.
- A man who was stalking a woman was arrested outside her apartment after she observed him & called police.
- Woman recently found her bathing suit taped to windshield of her car.
- On another occasion, she found some of her undergarments draped on the car’s mirror.
- 1 week prior to the arrest, the victim found cartridge casings from a handgun taped to her car’s window.
FBI Research and Interviews with convicted rapists in prison
General pattern for rape:
- Targeted women
- Watched them over time
- Waited for opportunity when woman was vulnerable
In other words the convicted rapist was stalking the victim.
Implications of the Undetected Rapists
The Typical Rapist:
- Does not use a weapon
- Uses instrumental, not gratuitous violence
- Has access to consensual sex
- Comes from all racial and ethnic groups
- Is not mentally ill
- Premeditates & plans his attack
- Uses multiple strategies to make victim vulnerable
- Uses alcohol deliberately
- Increases violence as needed
Common Characteristics between Incarcerated and Undetected Rapists
- Angry at women
- Need to dominate women
- Believe in rape myths
- Hold hyper masculine attitudes
- See “intimate” violence as normal
- See women as objects to be conquered
- Have deficits in empathy
Similarities between non-stranger and stranger rapists:
- Many rapists are serial rapists
- Rape is usually planned in advance
- Victim’s accessibility was primary factor in rapist’s decision
- Victim’s appearance had little or nothing to do with the rapist’s decision
The interviews with the men revealed:
- Rapist feels anger not empathy when a victim resists.
- Rapist minimizes and sanitizes his violence.
- Women are “targets” & “prey”
- Women are “staked out”
Rapes were preceded by:
- Following or Surveillance
- Information gathering
- Threatens victim (Implicit or explicit)
- Attempts to frame the incident
- Maintain social contact
- Approach/Engagement Calling/texting/emailing
- Showing up at class/residence/work
What benefit is there to making a connection between stalking and sexual assault?
- Validation of Victims’ Experiences
- Places blame solidly on the perpetrator
- Enhanced opportunities for intervention
- Increased opportunities for offender accountability
The facts:
Every 2 minutes another American is sexually assaulted.
Almost half of these victims are under 18, and 80% are under 30.
Three ways to reduce your risk of sexual assault
- Travel in packs
When you got out, go in a group. Check in with each other & leave together. Don’t be isolated with someone you don’t know or trust.
- Trust Your Instincts
If a situation feels unsafe or uncomfortable, it probably is.
- Don’t feel Obligated
To do anything you don’t want to. “I don’t want to” is always a good enough reason.
Let’s work together and do our part to help as many innocent victims as we can.
